Support to thrive

At Salcombe Prep, within our excellent pastoral care framework, we envisage every child developing the courage to seize new opportunities, exemplifying honesty in their actions, and demonstrating kindness towards others.

Educators and storytellers

At Salcombe Prep, our teachers are not just educators; they are educational storytellers, bringing learning to life through first-hand experiences both inside and outside the classroom.

They ensure that pupils not only excel academically but also grow emotionally. With a commitment to closely monitoring each pupil's journey through focused assessments, our passionate staff foster academic progress and emotional wellbeing, placing the pupil at the centre of our collective focus.

Comprehensive PSHE Programme

We deliver a comprehensive programme of PSHE which helps pupils prepare for the pressures of the outside world.

Our carefully directed programme takes into account the increasing pressures on pupils, ensuring they develop into confident, compassionate individuals who are well equipped to deal with a competitive and challenging future.

Salcombe Says

We empower all our pupils to voice their opinions. Led by representatives from each year group, the School Council established our 'Salcombe Says' rules, grounded in robust moral values.

These rules provide a transparent framework for respectful behaviour, safeguarding the well-being and safety of both pupils and staff. Displayed prominently throughout the school, they foster a culture of fairness and equality in every aspect of school life.

Joining our family

When your child joins Salcombe Prep, it is not just them becoming part of our family - it is you too. Together, we will foster a relationship built on honesty and trust, with your child at the heart of our conversations.

Our doors are always open for discussions about anything on your mind, and you are warmly invited to join us at sports fixtures, music and poetry recitals, drama productions, and a myriad of social events throughout the academic year.

Wellbeing

A fundamental element of our wellbeing offering involves maintaining a strong sense of community among our staff and pupils, fostering a true sense of family. Our school community is closely knit, where everyone, including parents, pupils, and staff, are familiar with one another.

In our commitment to nurturing pupil wellbeing, we embrace the Jigsaw programme of PSHE, providing a robust foundation in personal, social, health, and emotional development through weekly lessons on emotions, behaviours, and health.

Alongside these essential teachings, pupils actively engage in nationally recognised events like Odd Socks Day and Safer Internet Day, as well Cognita’s annual Global Be Well Day, where we celebrate wellbeing with our sister schools around the world.

Our commitment to the emotional wellbeing of our pupil’s is evident through various support methods.

Pupils Voice

We actively involve our pupils in shaping our well-being initiatives.

This includes conducting pupil surveys (Voice of the Student) and holding school council meetings to gather their insights and feedback, ensuring that their voices are heard and valued.

Salcombe Says

As part of our Pupil Voice programme, our pupils collaboratively establish a set of guiding principles known as the Golden Rules, uniting Pre-School, Pre-Prep, and Prep.

These rules not only empower each pupil to strive for their personal best but also foster character development, enabling them to become the best version of themselves.

Nutrition

Deliciously cooked, nutritionally balanced meals offered on-site are a cornerstone of our commitment to wellbeing.

Designed by dietitians, our menus pay careful attention to accommodating vegetarians, children with allergies, and those with special dietary needs, ensuring every child is energised for success.

Safeguarding

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff, volunteers and other third parties to share this commitment. The safety of our pupils is our number one priority.
