ART

Immersive art education

At Salcombe Prep, our commitment is to cultivate genuine art experiences that spark creativity in every pupil. From Pre-School to Year 2, our youngest learners embark on their artistic journey right in the comfort of their own classrooms, with teachers bringing the world of art to them.

Our Prep School pupils, Year 3-6, step into our dedicated Art Studio for their weekly lessons. This purpose-built environment offers a haven for exploration and immersion, allowing pupils to fully engage with their creative pursuits.

Throughout their art education, our pupils have the opportunity to experiment with a variety of mediums and delve into the works of different artists, exploring their significance within historical and global contexts.

MUSIC

Harmonizing music with education

Music plays an essential role in a child's cognitive development, nurturing their spirits, inspiring creativity, and providing a vital outlet amid the bustling school day.

From Pre-School to Year 6, our children eagerly anticipate their weekly music sessions with our Head of Music. These lessons not only develop musical skills but also boost confidence, nurture self-esteem, and foster teamwork and imagination.

In addition to scheduled classes, Salcombe Prep offers a variety of co-curricular opportunities for musical exploration. Whether joining our choir, taking individual instrumental lessons (available to pupils from Reception), or performing at our esteemed Poetry and Music recitals, there's a space for every musical soul to thrive and find fulfilment.

DRAMA

The world is a stage

During their time at Salcombe Prep, your child will encounter numerous opportunities to participate in various performances, ranging from class assemblies to festive plays and Year 6 production. These events provide them with the chance to showcase their talents in front of family and friends in a supportive environment.

For pupils in Years 3-6 with a passion for drama, Salcombe Prep offers a Speech and Drama Club, providing an excellent opportunity to enhance their skills. The club is run by members of our teaching staff but offers pupils the option to participate in LAMDA exams, to which we have a remarkable 100% pass rate. These exams not only offer a recognised qualification but also aid pupils in developing vital communication and performance skills, which can benefit them in various aspects of life.

‘‘Teachers create a wide range of opportunities that engage pupils’ interest and imagination. ’’
